Everyone knows<\/p>\n
In those lawless days,<\/p>\n
The poets are the first to go.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But I, dear leader,<\/p>\n
Am a master of disguise<\/p>\n
I hide in plain sight<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Because everyone knows<\/p>\n
A poet is a predator<\/p>\n
And can’t help stalking poetic prey<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Stealth is the key to survival<\/p>\n
So I camoflauge<\/p>\n
I wear my fear like skin<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And everyone knows<\/p>\n
That years of hiding<\/p>\n
Changes a man’s shape<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Until I am a shadow<\/p>\n
Nobody looks for shadows<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And yet, everyone (?) knows that<\/p>\n
Poetry only needs a pause<\/p>\n
To turn and stalk you<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It lurks in shadows<\/p>\n
Where nobody else would search for me<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And everyone knows<\/p>\n
Being stalked by poetry<\/p>\n
Changes a man<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Shadow is my camouflage<\/p>\n
My skin is my own<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
When they come looking<\/p>\n
They won’t find me<\/p>\n
I have been turned into a hunter.<\/p>\n
