{"id":115756,"date":"2022-06-25T20:37:02","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T00:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=115756"},"modified":"2022-06-25T20:37:02","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T00:37:02","slug":"barking-dogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/barking-dogs\/","title":{"rendered":"Barking Dogs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are surrounded by<br \/>\nmultiple barking dogs<br \/>\ntwo are standard poodles with<br \/>\nthe worst one<br \/>\na former champion.<br \/>\nI suppose<br \/>\nwe are all<br \/>\na bit beneath them<br \/>\nin the hierarchy<br \/>\nof the world.<\/p>\n<p>We have had<br \/>\nworse dog neighbors<br \/>\nlike the three pit bulls<br \/>\nwho would bark<br \/>\nif we moved around<br \/>\nwithin our house and<br \/>\nonce got<br \/>\ninto our backyard<br \/>\nand trashed it.<br \/>\nWe have a photo<br \/>\nof the three of them<br \/>\non a roof.<\/p>\n<p>Sam the champion<br \/>\nwill sit regally<br \/>\nin the back<br \/>\never alert<br \/>\nlike a motion sensitive light<br \/>\nto start his vocalizations<br \/>\nwith any change in<br \/>\nhis environment<br \/>\nHis family has given up<br \/>\non training him<br \/>\nand merely yells<br \/>\nat hime to stop.<\/p>\n<p>We, our car, and our house<br \/>\nare not part of his family<br \/>\nand he will foam<br \/>\nat the mouth<br \/>\nracing every which<br \/>\nway to inform<br \/>\nthe world of<br \/>\nhis displeasure with us.<\/p>\n<p>Treats don&#8217;t work<br \/>\nSinging we love the daffodils<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t work<br \/>\nSeductive musk<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t work and<br \/>\nraising myself<br \/>\nto my full nine foot height<br \/>\nand roaring loudly<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t work.<\/p>\n<p>Basho wrote<br \/>\nlong ago:<br \/>\nIt is deep autumn<br \/>\nmy neighbor<br \/>\nhow does he live, I wonder<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are surrounded by multiple barking dogs two are standard poodles with the worst one a former champion.
