{"id":116272,"date":"2022-06-25T20:39:21","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T00:39:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=116272"},"modified":"2022-06-25T20:39:21","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T00:39:21","slug":"good-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/good-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We met at the gym<br \/>\nand found what we&#8217;d been missing,<br \/>\nfriends our age.<\/p>\n<p>We worked out together,<br \/>\nshared recipes,<br \/>\nwent out to dinner.<\/p>\n<p>No one lost weight,<br \/>\nbut we all felt better.<br \/>\nFriends do that for you.<\/p>\n<p>The pool closed,<br \/>\nand I found a new gym<br \/>\nand a new set of friends<\/p>\n<p>until 2021 happened.<\/p>\n<p>The girls from the old gym<br \/>\ngot new knees,<br \/>\nand we learned new skills. <\/p>\n<p>Vaccinated and boosted<br \/>\nwe meet now to weave baskets<br \/>\nand talk gardening.<\/p>\n<p>New friends and I<br \/>\nhave returned to the gym.<br \/>\nWe&#8217;re all wiser now<\/p>\n<p>knowing<br \/>\nthat absence really does<br \/>\nmake the heart grow fonder<\/p>\n<p>but gathering<br \/>\nmakes the heart lighter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We met at the gym and found what we&#8217;d been missing, friends our age.
