a new layer<\/p>\n
of my inbetween-ness<\/p>\n
emerging unsteadily,<\/p>\n
an egg too cracked<\/p>\n
to put back together.<\/p>\n
Back then, I was oozing<\/p>\n
out of my shell<\/p>\n
and unable to scoop<\/p>\n
the contents back inside\u2014<\/p>\n
the goop of my past selves<\/p>\n
dripped from my hands,<\/p>\n
they were forced<\/p>\n
to begin again<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
This wasn\u2019t long ago.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
When I first crawled<\/p>\n
from my cave<\/p>\n
and the allegories<\/p>\n
I was taught<\/p>\n
about leaving them,<\/p>\n
I found life.<\/p>\n
On the outside<\/p>\n
sat a friendly pack<\/p>\n
in a circle<\/p>\n
ready and willing<\/p>\n
to gather up<\/p>\n
my mutating parts<\/p>\n
into a bucket<\/p>\n
