Many believed for years that divorce was wrong
\nA sin by religious standards, an escape for adulterers
\nThere\u2019s even a King with whom we associate
\nA fanciful rhyme for his wives he left
\nDivorced, Beheaded, Died: Divorced, Beheaded, Survived
\nThere\u2019s a lot of harm from divorce
\nBut ultimately it can be for good.<\/p>\n
When I was little my parents fought
\nI was the scapegoat on which they united
\nFor years they piled their hatred upon me
\nA child whose growth they blighted
\nHad they divorced perhaps things wouldn\u2019t have
\nTurned out quite so bad
\nI may have had a better family
\nAnd not ended up so sad.<\/p>\n
I think when I left things got worse for them
\nTheir marriage became untenable
\nAnd while their abuse never lessened
\nThey finally learned their lesson
\nThey split just last year
\nBringing my other family far closer
\nReunited with a brother I hold dear<\/p>\n
The morals of divorce
\nCan\u2019t be decided by a religious text
\nBut they can be helped with evaluation
\nOf whether marriage created a toxic nest
\nWhile I still feel aftershocks
\nOf choices made by my parents
\nI can finally rest easy
