At one time<\/p>\n
it was super tough<\/p>\n
and words were my only rescue<\/p>\n
On Open Mic poetry night<\/p>\n
I gave the audience<\/p>\n
a close up<\/p>\n
to my behind the scenes<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I inherited my mother’s story<\/p>\n
believing mine would end up differently<\/p>\n
I learned somewhere to place the sugar cubes between my teeth<\/p>\n
it can make anything bitter taste better<\/p>\n
so I did<\/p>\n
I stumbled into masking<\/p>\n
the lie<\/p>\n
sipped it in<\/p>\n
by default I didn’t tell anyone the truth<\/p>\n
but I didn’t lie either<\/p>\n
suffering more from my thoughts<\/p>\n
than circumstances<\/p>\n
anything you hide comes out<\/p>\n
eventually<\/p>\n
so feel the energy<\/p>\n
