I grew up in small cities<\/p>\n
Asphalt coexisted<\/p>\n
with huge lawns<\/p>\n
Sprawling green\/ blue parks<\/p>\n
Houses nicely spaced so you couldn’t hear<\/p>\n
What the neighbors were watching on television.<\/p>\n
We had the best of both worlds i suppose<\/p>\n
Well placed schools,<\/p>\n
Public Libraries just the right size.<\/p>\n
Every fast food you could want.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I moved to a bigger city<\/p>\n
A place with tiny lawns<\/p>\n
and three units on one property.<\/p>\n
Walking distance to a huge mall<\/p>\n
And a bustling downtown<\/p>\n
Intimidating, daunting<\/p>\n
Scary, exciting.<\/p>\n
I visited San Francisco and LA<\/p>\n
Where the concrete eats everything<\/p>\n
The bustle raises blood pressure<\/p>\n
The traffic murders people daily.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So much to see and do<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But I wanted to crawl home<\/p>\n
To those sprawling lawns<\/p>\n
And big spacious houses<\/p>\n
I was used to.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A compromise was reached<\/p>\n
And I found a place<\/p>\n
Not too busy, not too quiet<\/p>\n
Plenty to do and see.<\/p>\n
I miss the lawns<\/p>\n
The house I will never own<\/p>\n
But I needn’t lose myself<\/p>\n
In a city too big.<\/p>\n
Or decay away in a place too small<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
