We sat and waited.
\nBefore sun up the earth smelled
\neasy, alive and like home.
\nGrunts were all prepped one last time
\nI knew they would not come home.<\/p>\n
Nests among the ranks
\nall thrown together, shabby,
\ngaudy, purposeful….
\nall stuck together, drabby,
\nI’m willing to die, of course.<\/p>\n
Next of kin, we hope
\nonly to see them survive
\nnext in line, is key
\ncause we’re fighting for the cause.
\nEveryone’s on the same team.<\/p>\n
Mayflies assemble.
\nOrders straight from the front lines
