Our prompt for this hour of the night is to write a poem for a city, real or imagined.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">My Tale of Two Cities<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Two homes have I, they\u2019re oceans apart<\/p>\n<p>Two cities, not one, I\u2019ll say from the start<\/p>\n<p>Two cultures, so diverse and different at first<\/p>\n<p>Together, however, they quench my thirst.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Calcutta in Bengal, the City of Joy<\/p>\n<p>I breathe in the grime, the dust, the whole<\/p>\n<p>Rest my weariness on her ample bosom<\/p>\n<p>She rocks me alive and soothes my soul.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Glasgow then, my home of choice<\/p>\n<p>Where we have put down roots for many years<\/p>\n<p>And raised our child with a Scottish voice<\/p>\n<p>With folk so friendly after chips and beers<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a thread that runs through both<\/p>\n<p>A thread that isn\u2019t just me<\/p>\n<p>The parallels are there, an historical oath<\/p>\n<p>That most of you have yet to see.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Cemetery in the heart of Calcutta<\/p>\n<p>The Tagore Society in Glasgow\u2019s core<\/p>\n<p>The two bards have songs in common<\/p>\n<p>Paisley, football, jute and more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wouldn\u2019t it be grand then?<\/p>\n<p>If I could blend the two<\/p>\n<p>Take the best out of both these cities<\/p>\n<p>And create for me a utopia new.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour Nineteen \u2013 There are so many nature poems out there.
