{"id":120452,"date":"2022-06-26T04:41:05","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T08:41:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=120452"},"modified":"2022-06-26T04:41:05","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T08:41:05","slug":"hour-twenty-second-breakfast-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/hour-twenty-second-breakfast-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour Twenty &#8211; Second Breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Second Breakfast<\/p>\n<p>The three bears, they went out before breakfast<br \/>\nTo wait for their porridge to cool<br \/>\nWhen they came back, a girl had destroyed it<br \/>\nWhich just seems to me rather cruel<\/p>\n<p>Did they chase her away in raw anger?<br \/>\nDid they treat her as their new-found foe?<br \/>\nNo, they invited her back to the table<br \/>\nTo fill up before she might go<\/p>\n<p>They served her eggs over easy<br \/>\nAnd pancakes, stack upon stack<br \/>\nHam and sausage and bacon<br \/>\nWhich was just the first course of this snack<\/p>\n<p>There were waffles, French toast, and fry bread<br \/>\nMuffins: berry, banana, and bran<br \/>\nThere was fruit from so many seasons<br \/>\nFresh, frozen, dried, bottled and canned<\/p>\n<p>They had yogurt, and honey, and custard<br \/>\nOrange juice, grape juice, and milk<br \/>\nCoffee with cream and with sugar<br \/>\nAnd cottage cheese softer than silk<\/p>\n<p>Eggs over easy, well I\u2019ve said that<br \/>\nBut also, hard boiled and fried<br \/>\nSome that were made into omelets<br \/>\nAnd some, as for Easter, were dyed<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTry a little bit more, sweetie, won\u2019t you?<br \/>\nSee, you\u2019re hurting our dear mother\u2019s pride!\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cNot one more bite,\u201d she choked out<br \/>\n\u201cAnd it\u2019s time I was saying good-bye.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bears waved as Goldilocks sped off<br \/>\nAs fast as her tummy could stand<br \/>\nKilling with kindness is one thing<br \/>\nAll bear families do understand<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Second Breakfast The three bears, they went out before breakfast To wait for their porridge to cool When they came back, a girl had destroyed it Which just seems to me rather cruel Did they chase her away in raw anger?
