i get so caught up in the reality
\nthat i forget all about the pain.
\ndivide and conquer. compartmentalize.
\nmake it make sense. deep breaths.
\ntry to stay sane.<\/p>\n
how can i be doing so much better
\nbut still be drowning?
\nit’s been a long time since i could last breathe,
\nand none of this comes easy.<\/p>\n
i’m tempted to give up.
\nthe thought makes my stomach hurt.
\neverything in me is aching
\nsomething in me burns.<\/p>\n
who i was is not who i am,
\nalthough there’s similarities.
\ni try to manage it all the time
\nbut get lost in the details of the shame.<\/p>\n
pain is physical and emotional,
\nsomething i never quite shake.
\ni’m tired – of course i’m tired –
