A badmouths B and C gets mad,<\/p>\n

A is held accountable for everything A did<\/p>\n

Not just today but of all the days before,<\/p>\n

Of the mistakes and crimes of a person once was.<\/p>\n

Mistakes you’ve learnt from and wounds you’ve healed,<\/p>\n

You wouldn’t recognize your past self if you met them.<\/p>\n

Who we are today is not a reflection of us yesterday.<\/p>\n

It’s our past that makes us who we are,<\/p>\n

That make us tick and make us dream.<\/p>\n

We are but a collection of all our experiences,<\/p>\n

Of all the people we’ve met and the things we’ve seen.<\/p>\n

A person who gossips will gossip again,<\/p>\n

A person who helped yesterday will help you again.<\/p>\n

You don’t wipe your slate clean every single day,<\/p>\n

You wake up from your bed expecting no different.<\/p>\n

Who we are today is not a reflection of us yesterday.<\/p>\n

If we want A to learn and grow, says D,<\/p>\n

Shouldn’t we give A the chance to act differently?<\/p>\n

But what if A doesn’t learn and is let off easy?<\/p>\n

Should B suffer for A to learn?, says C.<\/p>\n

I agree with both C and D, B says empathetically.<\/p>\n

Yet we are both yesterday and tomorrow combined.<\/p>\n

Who we are today is not a reflection of us yesterday.<\/p>\n
