It\u2019s sub-conscious,
\nno one deliberately thinks this way<\/p>\n
but it is a narrative that cannot be changed
\nuntil it is changed by force<\/p>\n
Until it is thrust in front of us
\nand our world come shattering around us
\nlike a glass house wherein<\/p>\n
someone<\/p>\n
we don\u2019t know who<\/p>\n
threw a stone.<\/p>\n
Life has a way of taking the things we care about most.
\nAnd we have a way of seeing it happen
\nlooking the other way,
\nand knowing that could never be our own reality<\/p>\n
I\u2019m here to tell you that it can.<\/p>\n
Every nightmare
\nevery greatest fear
\nevery public issue
\nstarted somewhere.<\/p>\n
Hindsight is 20\/20,
\nthat\u2019s what they say.
\nI wish I had taken the last person <\/p>\n
who told me
\n\u201ccount your blessings\u201d
\n\u201cit can happen to anyone\u201d
\nseriously<\/p>\n
because when the unthinkable happened,
\nI wished I had heeded those warnings.<\/p>\n
