The other side of Me.<\/p>\n
On most days I can tolerate being laughed at
\nby a sea of immature audience,
\ngreeted by curious looks and strange looks
\nwho refuse to acknowledge
\nwhat it takes to be alive.<\/p>\n
You walk a certain way
\nits not normal
\nthey will laugh at you.
\nmost days its okay
\nI\u2019ll laugh along.
\nI can see how I brighten their day.
\nI have a funny bone or two I guess\u2026<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There are days when the joke is not funny
\nI\u2019d like for someone to cut me some slack
\nand respect my struggle and acknowledge
\nmy presence without so much as a giggle.
\nIt\u2019s not embarrassing as much as it is insulting.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a difference you see
\nI am not embarrassed by myself
\nI am proud of what I have achieved.
\nBut when you laugh at me
\nfor being me, it is insulting my struggle.
\nmy accomplishment, my journey.<\/p>\n

When you are born healthy
\nyou get a taste of your capacity.
\nWhen you suddenly lose your abilities
\nyou have to develop your capacities all over again
\nthey come out different the second time round
\nor not quite the same
\njust a smidge different.
\nhowever, it serves the purpose and that\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I would like to be okay with it someday
\nfor today I am growing and learning
\nto be tolerant of society\u2019s insensitivity
\nand acknowledging the fact that
\nwhat they find funny might not necessarily be my kind of funny.
\nthat\u2019s okay, I\u2019ll just be utterly honest
\nspeak my mind unfiltered and utterly honest
\nand unapologetic.<\/p>\n

This is my personal struggle \u2013 the one I refuse to acknowledge
\nthe one that sits like a child being timed out in the corner.
\nThere are many things I have grown to accept
\njust not this. Not yet anyway\u2026
