{"id":122695,"date":"2022-06-26T08:32:06","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T12:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=122695"},"modified":"2022-07-05T12:09:55","modified_gmt":"2022-07-05T16:09:55","slug":"hour-twenty-four-the-best-naps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/hour-twenty-four-the-best-naps\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour Twenty-Four &#8211; The Best Naps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hour Twenty-Four \u2013 Above Image Prompt<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>The Best Naps<\/u><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The best naps I\u2019ve ever had<\/p>\n<p>Were never on my bed<\/p>\n<p>Where the duvet is warm, the sheets are clean<\/p>\n<p>And pillows under my head.<\/p>\n<p>Head lolling, body sliding sleep<\/p>\n<p>in busses and \u2018planes instead.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As students burning the midnight oil<\/p>\n<p>We woke up in the morn<\/p>\n<p>on books wet with sleep-soaked-drool<\/p>\n<p>and pages creased and torn.<\/p>\n<p>But fresh, we bounced, and went to class<\/p>\n<p>in yesterday\u2019s clothes we\u2019d worn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now, when sleep is oft elusive<\/p>\n<p>sometimes I do nap at night<\/p>\n<p>When I fall asleep on the sofa<\/p>\n<p>in the glare of the telly\u2019s bright light<\/p>\n<p>How deep that sleep, regular now<\/p>\n<p>with eyes shut half tight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But then I drag myself to bed<\/p>\n<p>and shut my eyes to sleep<\/p>\n<p>Alas, I\u2019m wide awake now<\/p>\n<p>and begin to count them sheep<\/p>\n<p>All night long, I long for that nap<\/p>\n<p>the memory of sleep so deep.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour Twenty-Four \u2013 Above Image Prompt &nbsp; The Best Naps &nbsp; The best naps I\u2019ve ever had Were never on my bed Where the duvet is warm, the sheets are clean And pillows under my head.
