{"id":122863,"date":"2022-06-26T08:42:31","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T12:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=122863"},"modified":"2022-06-28T08:27:30","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T12:27:30","slug":"learning-to-fly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/learning-to-fly\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning to Fly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I once read a book by a guy who<br \/>\nturned fifty, went to circus camp<br \/>\ntrained to be a trapeze artist<br \/>\nmost difficult lesson to learn<br \/>\nwas to let go of the bar<br \/>\nsimple concept; if<br \/>\nyou don\u2019t let go<br \/>\nyou don\u2019t fly<\/p>\n<p>the metaphor<br \/>\nwas obviously<br \/>\nall about the times<br \/>\nin life that we should<br \/>\nlet go of whatever but can\u2019t<br \/>\nhard to discern difference<br \/>\nfly\/fall &#8211; can&#8217;t let go<br \/>\na fascinating read<br \/>\nhe told how<br \/>\ndifficulties in learning to<br \/>\nlet go holds most of us<br \/>\nback in some way<br \/>\ntightened grip<br \/>\nno flight<\/p>\n<p>While I have never been on trapeze<br \/>\nI have certainly struggled many times<br \/>\nwith letting go and hanging on<br \/>\ntwo very different<br \/>\nconcepts and<br \/>\nwhile I\u2019ll probably<br \/>\nnever learn trapeze<br \/>\nI have in large<br \/>\npart learned to losen my grip \u2013<br \/>\nwith purpose and promise<\/p>\n<p>there comes a time when<br \/>\nyou just need to<br \/>\nlet it go<br \/>\nif nothing else<br \/>\ngive your arms<br \/>\na little bit of a rest<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2013 Mark L.
