A full moon hazed by mist<\/p>\n
Illuminated the night.<\/p>\n
Sentinel spruce and fir trees<\/p>\n
Stood to attention along the winding road.<\/p>\n
An information booth stood between two lanes\u2014<\/p>\n
More windows than bricks\u2014<\/p>\n
With its lights competing with the moon for brightness.<\/p>\n
No one was present,<\/p>\n
A blank page in a library of nature.<\/p>\n

The Garment of Yesterday<\/p>\n

Fabricated memories<\/p>\n
Offered warmth and protection,<\/p>\n
But it weighted us down<\/p>\n
And kept us from flying toward tomorrow.<\/p>\n

A butterfly does not carry its chrysalis<\/p>\n
As it flits from flower to flower.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A frog does keep its tadpole tail<\/p>\n
While it jumps among lily pads.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A chicken does not carry its shell<\/p>\n
When it roost at night.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Perhaps we too should shed our past.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
