{"id":126795,"date":"2023-09-02T09:15:11","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T13:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=126795"},"modified":"2023-09-02T09:15:11","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T13:15:11","slug":"hour-one-2023-maui","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/hour-one-2023-maui\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour One 2023- Maui"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am not the person I was a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot grasp the dark world around me.<\/p>\n<p>The changes within the home I love.<\/p>\n<p>The pain palpable,<\/p>\n<p>it permeates every breeze.<\/p>\n<p>It beats in every heart<\/p>\n<p>including my own.<\/p>\n<p>A warning beat like<\/p>\n<p>a ceremonial drum.<\/p>\n<p>I am safe, unharmed.<\/p>\n<p>My bones are not a part<\/p>\n<p>of the Maui world.<\/p>\n<p>I am an interloper.<\/p>\n<p>An Invader, a settler.<\/p>\n<p>But my heart bleeds.<\/p>\n<p>It aches from every cell.<\/p>\n<p>My tears always at the ready.<\/p>\n<p>No words can<\/p>\n<p>fill this new void.<\/p>\n<p>I wail in the darkness,<\/p>\n<p>feeling more tenuous than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Safety gone.<\/p>\n<p>Hope set ablaze.<\/p>\n<p>Lying in ash.<\/p>\n<p>All that was, is no more.<\/p>\n<p>I am not who I used to be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am not the person I was a year ago.
