The sun has set
\nAnd so work begins…<\/p>\n
In the middle of nowhere
\nI spend my time
\nI greet strangers like friends
\nI know a few passers-by<\/p>\n
Apart from greetings,
\nI am mostly alone
\nI eat my lunch in silence
\nAs the night goes on<\/p>\n
As four o’clock approaches,
\nI get ready to go
\nMy shift will be taken over
\nAnd I will be on my way home<\/p>\n
However, on this night, nobody comes
\nAnd I’m stuck alone
\nI put down my bag,
\nI pick up the phone<\/p>\n
The only thing I hear
\nIs a high-pitched dialtone
\nAnd my sudden shallow breath
\nAs I realise I’m not alone<\/p>\n
I am not a fighter
\nBut I shall stand my ground
\nFor if I am to go,
\nOf myself, I hope to be proud.<\/p>\n
