{"id":127643,"date":"2023-09-02T10:00:32","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T14:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=127643"},"modified":"2023-09-02T12:46:18","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T16:46:18","slug":"blue-moon-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/blue-moon-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Moon (Hour 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Blue Moon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The morning after you left,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the Moon refused to set.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the neon sun rose, she \u2013 blue marble in a sea of pink sky \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">still gazed upon you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Full and bright,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She would not leave her sister Sun to mourn you alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Moon knows what she has done &#8211; what she showed you,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and she is not ashamed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why should she be?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She is marvelous, splendid, and resplendent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Had she ever burned you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Had she ever poisoned you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She began to tug at you a week before<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">she fully unveiled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Naked, she climbed high and turned her phosphorescent face toward\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leaned in on you sighing as Earth groaned under her weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You should have looked her directly in the eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not looking is what causes some to crumble &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caused you to crumble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Didn\u2019t anyone ever tell you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Full moons don\u2019t drive people mad,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But the shame and hiding \u2014 well,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That will do you in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Moon glitters what we hide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She offers us a chance to surrender,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and if we don\u2019t, our glowing contraband is ripped from us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Didn\u2019t anyone ever tell you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Poor child, how could you possibly suffer the weight of her<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">unless you give up?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How else could you survive her splendor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">unless you reverence the fractured reflection mirrored in her face?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How could you know the beauty and function<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of your twinkling pieces, until you saw them fully formed by the light of the Moon?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So, she, with all of the full moons before her,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Silently absorbs the blame for<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">all of the ways we cracked under\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The weight and fullness of her gaze,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">beam of her closeness, and<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">might of her pulling.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blue Moon The morning after you left, the Moon refused to set.
