I wish to meet in a museum\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One I have visited before\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where I already have a favorite room\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because there is a piece there that tugs at the heartstrings\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I haven\u2019t figured out just why yet\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There will be a bench\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wooden slats that somehow fit the spine\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As I lay back\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I do this because I am comfortable\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because I can move my body in this world\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Without external guidance\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Can stretch a little even\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Let my boots hang over\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hit floor\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And my eyes are closed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So I don\u2019t see her coming\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just feel a small warmth\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A different tug and pull\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In my right draping pinky<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bored?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

She will start\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I\u2019ll feel like a honey trap\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lids stay shut\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because here I am unbothered confident\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But I smile still\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because here we are also not rude\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Not at all<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I say\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I start to wonder what she looks like\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I still see it here\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I explain\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Behind my eyelids\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The blues\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The lilies\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I am making sure I stared long enough\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the image to burn\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is how you rob museums\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is how we keep details\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Until we don\u2019t\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And then there is the trust fall\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No response\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am the girl in the museum\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unseeing\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And speaking to the ceiling\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Falling into embarrassment\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The bench dissolving until\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

she sits\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I am here again\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Held\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But not before one lid has peeked\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0There is shoulder bones under taught black and gray knit\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Blonde just kisses their valley\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Thick and straight\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I see the hand holding jacket on lap\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Just the back and wrist of it\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Veins like steel over scaffold\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 With soft curtains that show middle age like a class act earned\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Close again because it feels safer<\/span><\/p>\n

Safer because all I want is to keep looking\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then the shuffle\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And she is lying here too\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I feel her shoulder greet mine\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Politely\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I picked one\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

She says quieter now\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s test this theory\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

And then there is her breathing\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My chest stays loose\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My muscles unflexed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like they\u2019ve lied by this side a million times before\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Been kept company by its warmth\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She smells of wood and lilly\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I can feel myself commit the shallowest of drownings\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the back of our hands\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

somehow meet\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I wonder if either of us had any say in it\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here we leave the bench eventually\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And go on instead to memorize each other\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here she is a masterpiece\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I need not shift to keep her\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is no burning to cling to memory a face that will allow itself shyly into photographs\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Will look back at mine over city cafes and wooden porch chairs\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here I met her and she stayed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
