{"id":128678,"date":"2023-09-02T11:20:19","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T15:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=128678"},"modified":"2023-09-02T13:35:17","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T17:35:17","slug":"poem-for-hour-three-3-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/poem-for-hour-three-3-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem for Hour Three (3\/24)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PIGEONS ARE TERRIBLE NEST BUILDERS!<\/p>\n<p>We domesticated them,<\/p>\n<p>Housed them,<\/p>\n<p>And now,<\/p>\n<p>Their best attempts at building consist of two twigs on a roof shingle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PIGEONS ARE TOO FRIENDLY FOR THEIR OWN GOOD!<\/p>\n<p>They, like us, frequent cafes,<\/p>\n<p>Ordering pastries,<\/p>\n<p>Asking for nibbles,<\/p>\n<p>Sitting daintily on our hands even though we are strangers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PIGEONS BREED YEAR ROUND!<\/p>\n<p>They live dangerously,<\/p>\n<p>Along noisy streets,<\/p>\n<p>Crowded intersections,<\/p>\n<p>And still find time and peace enough to bring life into the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PIGEONS FALL FROM BUILDINGS WITHOUT THEIR WINGS OPEN!<\/p>\n<p>Because even now,<\/p>\n<p>After all this time,<\/p>\n<p>They are still birds,<\/p>\n<p>And they have learned to trust that their wings will catch them in freefall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PIGEONS ARE TERRIBLE NEST BUILDERS!
