{"id":1289,"date":"2014-08-23T09:41:41","date_gmt":"2014-08-23T13:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=1289"},"modified":"2014-08-23T09:43:12","modified_gmt":"2014-08-23T13:43:12","slug":"add-orexic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/add-orexic\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;add-orexic&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>&#8220;add-orexic&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nshe was a straight-C math student<br \/>\nwho hated graphing fractions,<br \/>\nin a flood of A&#8217;s and extracurricular<br \/>\nuntil she started skipping<br \/>\nlunch<br \/>\nthe excuse sounded something like<br \/>\nthe half an hour to do homework<br \/>\nwas more mandatory<br \/>\nthan the menu<br \/>\nin two months she brought her<br \/>\nmath grade up ten percent and dropped<br \/>\nten percent of something else,<br \/>\nthe way she was<br \/>\nlearning to divide her body<br \/>\nmade her understand why she had to find &#8220;x&#8221;<br \/>\neach meal taught her to add<br \/>\nand she invented new ways to subtract<br \/>\nin five months she<br \/>\nbecame the fraction<br \/>\nand the only thing on the graph<br \/>\nwas two digit numbers<br \/>\nand red circles to mark<br \/>\nevery<br \/>\nwrong<br \/>\nanswer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>(Indubitably, this is not my strongest poem. It will need workshopping.
