My heart is a mudpie bleeding in the rain
\nSo bright of red that it contains the sun.
\nSopping clay falling through tiny fingers,
\nto the soft applause of relentless rain.
\nCold petrichor fossils burn through icy nostrils,
\nchoking back chalky mouthfuls of earthen fruit.
\nA child cries. Rivers of mud pour from her chin,
\nDeath ebbs, all bloodied across her hands.<\/p>\n
Until the tears burn like electric darts,
\nlightning of the mind, short-circuited, leaking,
\nWhere Endymion eternally reaches for a fleeting moon
\nsinking behind the mountains of Caria.
\nMy heart is a pale rock fading in the night.<\/p>\n
The sky, a remorseless sea that seeks
\nto drown all light with its magnitude.
\nWhere blue devils tear the sash from around my chest.
\nThe harder they claw, the more death is like a dream,
\na kaleidoscopic interplay of ontological absurdity
\non the green table of mortality
\nwhere umbrellas float upside down
\nlike orbiting fishing boats without rudders
\nuntil I drink the ocean dry,
\nand spit it back out,
\nfiltered through my teeth.<\/p>\n
