Your challenge is to write a poem about the topic of marriage, without ever using the word marriage, and while also ideally avoiding the words spouse, husband, and wife.<\/em><\/p>\n

We started off with promise<\/p>\n

a love so deep it conflicted<\/p>\n

With every other chiding adult citing<\/p>\n

Our relationship as foolish<\/p>\n

Tied together by our vows<\/p>\n

Fresh faced in unity<\/p>\n

Then three long years of foreseen turmoil<\/p>\n

Unfortunately even Cassandra could not save us<\/p>\n

It started with a spiral<\/p>\n

Depression deception doubt<\/p>\n

Then desperation death and division<\/p>\n

You were not the one I’d held so close<\/p>\n

It seemed you never were<\/p>\n

And now you’re healing<\/p>\n

As am I<\/p>\n

But not together sadly<\/p>\n

I mourn the unity I fought for<\/p>\n

So easily it was rent asunder<\/p>\n

And bitter is the mouth that sees you<\/p>\n

Finally thriving<\/p>\n

Why couldn’t you do that when<\/p>\n

it was my life<\/p>\n

And you were driving?<\/p>\n

I still love you<\/p>\n

The you I cannot have<\/p>\n

And I doubt you will ever be had.<\/p>\n
