{"id":129581,"date":"2023-09-02T12:55:14","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T16:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=129581"},"modified":"2023-09-02T12:55:14","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T16:55:14","slug":"a-watchful-eye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/a-watchful-eye\/","title":{"rendered":"A Watchful Eye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A friendly little rabbit sits in my yard.<\/p>\n<p>He comes to visit every day just like he has a job.<\/p>\n<p>He has a spot where he likes to sit all day.<\/p>\n<p>He looks around the neighborhood, but has very little to say.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s fuzzy and black, a veritable sight.<\/p>\n<p>He only moves away when day changes to night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He seems to be studying the people as they go by.<\/p>\n<p>He doesn&#8217;t seem to be afraid when little children cry.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s not afraid of the dogs when they try to scare him away.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s a cute little bunny, diligently working all day.<\/p>\n<p>He never bothers the plants, flowers or trees.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what he eats, but there&#8217;s no food from me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Why is he there I&#8217;ve pondered in my mind.<\/p>\n<p>I think this was his home before it was mine.<\/p>\n<p>My husband and I built a home here you see;<\/p>\n<p>now my husband passed on which left only me.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to think that rabbit was heaven sent.<\/p>\n<p>A gentle creature of God&#8217;s love as a testament.<\/p>\n<p>I know I&#8217;m not alone when the rabbit assumes his place.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow this rabbit reminds me of my husband;<\/p>\n<p>watching over me as I&#8217;m covered by love and God&#8217;s grace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ears and all.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping a watchful eye when people come to call.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A friendly little rabbit sits in my yard.
