How did so much come to nothing<\/p>\n
Leaving just an empty space<\/p>\n
When everything was over<\/p>\n
And there were no truths left to face<\/p>\n
Just aching walls of silence<\/p>\n
With a window to the past<\/p>\n
Highlights where it all went wrong<\/p>\n
And where we tried to make it last<\/p>\n
It’s almost like a crime scene, now<\/p>\n
Missing just a chalked-up outline<\/p>\n
To represent the bodies<\/p>\n
Who we were before the fault line<\/p>\n
Came crashing down around us<\/p>\n
Like a plane we couldn’t fly<\/p>\n
Or an ocean bent on flooding<\/p>\n
Every dream we held inside<\/p>\n
I look around that empty room<\/p>\n
Deep inside my soul<\/p>\n
To remind myself of all I’ve lost<\/p>\n
Before I turn to go<\/p>\n
There’s nothing left in there for me<\/p>\n
It’s time to lock the door<\/p>\n
And leave behind the memories<\/p>\n
Of who I was before<\/p>\n
That one brief shining moment<\/p>\n
Those too few wonderous years<\/p>\n
That were only just a fairytale<\/p>\n
