{"id":131310,"date":"2023-09-02T14:08:08","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=131310"},"modified":"2023-09-02T14:08:08","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:08:08","slug":"hour-2-my-cherished-memory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/hour-2-my-cherished-memory\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour 2 My cherished memory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hour 2<br \/>\nMy cherished memory is a picture<br \/>\nof my grandma sitting at our dining room table<br \/>\nwith the wallpaper flowers behind her.<\/p>\n<p>I remember feeling excitement<br \/>\nwhen she and my uncle came down<br \/>\nfrom \u201cup north\u201d in mid Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>I remember getting<br \/>\nLittle Ceasar\u2019s Pizza Pizza<br \/>\nand loving it.<\/p>\n<p>I remember my mom getting frenzied<br \/>\nbefore their visit and getting mad<br \/>\nwhen I asked her about it and<br \/>\nI didn\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n<p>I remember feeling connected<br \/>\nwhere extended family meant a world<br \/>\noutside of my isolated \u201cChristian family\u201d<br \/>\nwhere everyone else was \u201cof the world\u201d<br \/>\nand we were not.<\/p>\n<p>I remember not wanting to be set apart<br \/>\nfrom the world<br \/>\nas I was part of it<br \/>\nand I felt tethered to the earth.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t want to be different.<br \/>\nI didn\u2019t want to be \u201cnot of this world\u201d.<br \/>\nI wanted to be a part of.<br \/>\nI wanted to belong.<\/p>\n<p>My cherished memory is in a picture.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour 2 My cherished memory is a picture of my grandma sitting at our dining room table with the wallpaper flowers behind her.
