{"id":131715,"date":"2023-09-02T14:26:36","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=131715"},"modified":"2023-09-02T14:26:36","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:26:36","slug":"hour-six-edge-of-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/hour-six-edge-of-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour Six: Edge of the World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">There be dragons<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">beneath us<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">cavorting with angels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">What seem to be clouds<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">at our feet<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">is dragon breath<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">and feathers floated from<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">angel wings &#8212; all<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">evidence of a heaven<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">below, not above us<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">as we were told.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shall we traverse to<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">the other side of the world<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">and find hell<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">in its rightful place<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">below?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perhaps we\u2019ll see smoke<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">looking like clouds<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">at our feet<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">raised from the fires<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">stoked by furies and fear<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">and pouring rain<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">from the cries of the damned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Let\u2019s stay on this side<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">of our world where<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">there be dragons<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">and angels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There be dragons beneath us cavorting with angels.
