{"id":131930,"date":"2023-09-02T14:36:22","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=131930"},"modified":"2023-09-02T14:36:22","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:36:22","slug":"the-many-faces-of-no-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/the-many-faces-of-no-one\/","title":{"rendered":"The Many Faces of No One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once upon a time I was a coyote,<\/p>\n<p>racing careless along the chaparral,<\/p>\n<p>howling true and strong with my pack.<\/p>\n<p>And then the bond was severed<\/p>\n<p>and the coyote died.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time I was a hawk,<\/p>\n<p>carving rainshine out of thunderstorms,<\/p>\n<p>pushed ever upward by the draft of my rage.<\/p>\n<p>And then the storms broke away,<\/p>\n<p>but so did the hawk.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time I was a pigeon,<\/p>\n<p>swinging happy on a golden perch, beloved,<\/p>\n<p>praised for my function and potential.<\/p>\n<p>And then the practicality faded,<\/p>\n<p>and now the pigeon has as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time I might have been myself,<\/p>\n<p>but I&#8217;d not be able to tell you when.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #999999\">(Hour 6)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once upon a time I was a coyote, racing careless along the chaparral, howling true and strong with my pack.
