I heard it-<\/p>\n

that sound,<\/p>\n

it had been around<\/p>\n

all my life<\/p>\n

but now it was louder.<\/p>\n

A flat solid thump<\/p>\n

thu-mp, thum-p.<\/p>\n

The horizon was changing,<\/p>\n

the mountain range<\/p>\n

was gone.<\/p>\n

I gathered up my guts<\/p>\n

I knew this was going to suck<\/p>\n

but I had to know.<\/p>\n

Someone wish me luck.<\/p>\n

I walked the miles it took<\/p>\n

and reached the edge that overlooked<\/p>\n

nothing.<\/p>\n

The sound was louder,<\/p>\n

the thumping like the beat of my heart.<\/p>\n

I sat down, then got to my knees.<\/p>\n

I crawled back to the edge.<\/p>\n

I had to see.<\/p>\n

Flat.<\/p>\n

They were hammering the earth<\/p>\n

flat<\/p>\n

just to prove a point.<\/p>\n

Well, we’ll see about that.<\/p>\n

And I jumped to my feet<\/p>\n

and over the edge.<\/p>\n

No one is changing my center of gravity.<\/p>\n
