{"id":132406,"date":"2023-09-02T18:18:15","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T22:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=132406"},"modified":"2023-09-02T18:19:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T22:19:37","slug":"2023-poetry-marathon-poem-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/2023-poetry-marathon-poem-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Acrophobia (2023 Poem Six)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Acrophobia<\/p>\n<p>Fear of heights be damned, the Earth is flat, that&#8217;s easy enough to prove<br \/>\nIf only I could walk up to the edge, but I can&#8217;t bring myself to move<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t need to take a photo just to make you see<br \/>\nThe edge is over there on the horizon, it&#8217;s as plain as day to me<\/p>\n<p>I know the edge must have a high lip holding all the water, just like a baking tin<br \/>\nLogic says it must be high enough to keep all the things and people contained within<br \/>\nSome say there is no edge, that Antarctic ice sheets go on to infinity<br \/>\nClearly, once it melts it would all simply pour out, including all the sea<\/p>\n<p>There must be dirt, mountains, beaches, oceans, and icebergs right up to the wall<br \/>\nIf there was nothing to make the edge, clearly all earthly things would start to fall<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s probably made of iron ore, or something magnetic and strong, you see<br \/>\nTo bring a compass needle bearing north, and for the likes of thee<\/p>\n<p>(Prompt: The earth is actually flat, you look over the edge and what do you see? Describe it.
