{"id":132438,"date":"2023-09-02T15:10:24","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T19:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=132438"},"modified":"2023-09-02T15:10:24","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T19:10:24","slug":"hour-3-the-rains-came","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/hour-3-the-rains-came\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour 3 The Rains Came"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hour 3<\/p>\n<p>The rains came last night in the desert,<br \/>\nthe ground already drenched from<br \/>\nlast week\u2019s tropical storm.  <\/p>\n<p>I followed my usual after work routine \u2013<br \/>\ntreadmill, stretching, dinner.<\/p>\n<p>As I was in part 2 of the routine,<br \/>\nthe stretching portion,<br \/>\nI heard a crash.<\/p>\n<p>Boxes stashed out of sight had fallen over in the office,<br \/>\nthe one room<br \/>\naside from the garage that had not been sorted.<\/p>\n<p>I stepped in the water as I went to straighten the boxes;<br \/>\nshut the door, returning to my yoga mat<br \/>\nand continued stretching.<\/p>\n<p>Annoyance at the thought of my evening plans being interrupted,<br \/>\nfear of possible damage and of being alone,<br \/>\ndread at lifting the heavy boxes with my poor back<br \/>\nbombarded me.<\/p>\n<p>Getting up off the mat after a final stretch,<br \/>\nI heat up dinner,<br \/>\ntext friends<br \/>\nand open the office door to begin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour 3 The rains came last night in the desert, the ground already drenched from last week\u2019s tropical storm.
