{"id":132781,"date":"2023-09-02T15:37:58","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T19:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=132781"},"modified":"2023-09-02T15:37:58","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T19:37:58","slug":"seven-the-illness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/seven-the-illness\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven: The Illness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Illness<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Seven<\/em><br \/>\n<em>A Viator<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m so sick.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s strep, of course,<br \/>\nI mean, It\u2019s usually strep<br \/>\nBut it\u2019s day one,<br \/>\nand I\u2019m also participating in a marathon of poems<br \/>\ntoday.<\/p>\n<p>The poems come harder.<br \/>\nI\u2019m so sick,<br \/>\nSo each line gets stranger<br \/>\nWith each passing hour<br \/>\nBut no stranger than strange<br \/>\nSo I suppose that\u2019s something I can write about.<\/p>\n<p>Or, instead, could I write<br \/>\nOf the infections of the world?<br \/>\nI\u2019m so sick<br \/>\nOf politicians and their anti-trans hatred.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Trans Debate\u201d is<br \/>\n\u201cThe Jewish Question\u201d is<br \/>\n\u201cThe Negro Problem\u201d is<br \/>\nThe newest set of code words<br \/>\nChosen to dehumanize the people<br \/>\nThey seek to oppress<\/p>\n<p>Because oppression is the only way<br \/>\nThey know how to maintain the power<br \/>\nThey wield over others.<br \/>\nI\u2019m so sick<br \/>\nof rich cis het white men<br \/>\nAnd their rich cis het white money<br \/>\nPolluting the only planet we have.<\/p>\n<p>So though I fever,<br \/>\nLet this fever dream stand<br \/>\nFor something more<br \/>\nThan just an infection.<br \/>\nI\u2019m so sick<br \/>\nAnd no amount of medicine will cure<br \/>\nThe spreading contagion<br \/>\nThat is capitalism.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20210123_014533_538-1024x1024.jpg\" width=\"366\" height=\"366\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Illness Seven A Viator I\u2019m so sick.
