There once was a faerie child
\nOf golden hair and small size
\nWith an impish grin
\nAnd mischief in her eyes<\/p>\n
How she loved to run through forests
\nAnd climb the tall, tall trees
\nAnd laugh as her hair danced
\nAmid the summer’s breeze<\/p>\n
One day her path was crossed
\nBy a human of kind nature
\nThe faerie child was shy at first
\nFor of the human she was unsure<\/p>\n
But the human smiled kindly
\nAt this meeting most fortuitous
\nShe loved the child’s spirit
\nEven if it was a bit mischievous<\/p>\n
The human visited the child each day
\nAnd each day at their morning meeting
\nThe child’s face would light up
\nAt her human’s kind greeting<\/p>\n
The games of human children
\nEach day they would play
\nAnd now and then the child would
\nSneak in some tricks of the fae<\/p>\n
At midday the child would sleep
\nWeary from a morning of fun
\nThe human would sing soft lullabies
\nUntil her dreaming had begun<\/p>\n
Days turned to weeks then months
\nAnd with each passing playtime
\nThe human and the faerie child’s bond
\nBecame something gained once in a lifetime<\/p>\n
But as with all good things
\nTheir time together came to an end
\nThe fae child had to leave behind
\nHer dear human friend<\/p>\n
With their final games and tricks
\nThe human felt an aching
\nKnowing she must say goodbye
\nHer heart began breaking<\/p>\n
Midday came with its final lullaby
\nFor the dear fae child
\nA song of rain and sunshine
\nAnd a love tender and mild<\/p>\n
Then came the time of parting
\nThe human bid the child farewell
\nA blink of an eye and she was gone
\nNo more than a story to tell<\/p>\n
