{"id":133394,"date":"2023-09-02T16:23:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T20:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=133394"},"modified":"2023-09-03T07:57:26","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T11:57:26","slug":"a-cuppa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/a-cuppa\/","title":{"rendered":"A cuppa (Prompt 8)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is a coffee shop I frequent<br \/>\neverything but the coffee a clich\u00e9<br \/>\nold building, exposed brick<br \/>\nplants, hand-lettered signs<br \/>\nroasting their own blends<br \/>\nalchemy of \u2018house-made\u2019 syrups \u2013<br \/>\nlattes you long for, unsure why<\/p>\n<p>depending on barista, music mix<br \/>\nruns the gamut from eclectic to<br \/>\nthis one wasn\u2019t until recently<br \/>\nlyrical angst served hot or iced<br \/>\nguitars heavier than the espresso<br \/>\npay more for the coffee<br \/>\nchalk it up as a cover charge<\/p>\n<p>On days when the clientele<br \/>\nis more plugged in<br \/>\nstudents, gig-economy nomads<br \/>\nfilling table-for-two pews<br \/>\ndeep in laptop, tablet hymnals<br \/>\nreverence punctuated by<br \/>\nstaccato frother woosh<br \/>\nsurprisingly on key and on beat<br \/>\nwith whatever song is playing<br \/>\nI can only wonder<br \/>\nas I sit with my coffee,<br \/>\nnotepad, pen if<br \/>\neven in my enlightened age<br \/>\nand stage in life I am<br \/>\nconsidered something of a<br \/>\ncoffee house luddite<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Mark L.
