{"id":135454,"date":"2023-09-02T18:50:01","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T22:50:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=135454"},"modified":"2023-09-02T18:50:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T22:50:01","slug":"beyond-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/beyond-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Beyond Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Beyond Family<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Family is now a generic term.<\/p>\n<p>Family is a wide-open umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>Blood or not blood.<\/p>\n<p>This is how most of the world sees family.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The indigenous tribes<\/p>\n<p>see family everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we call the Earth, Mother.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A mother is supposed to nurture,<\/p>\n<p>support, and empower us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mother Nature,<\/p>\n<p>Gaia,<\/p>\n<p>Unci Maka<\/p>\n<p>Ni Mama Akii<\/p>\n<p>Mother Earth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Her warmth comes from her inner core<\/p>\n<p>and radiated with her trees<\/p>\n<p>that help us breathe easier.<\/p>\n<p>She whispers advice through the wind,<\/p>\n<p>telling us to take it slow.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Father sky,<\/p>\n<p>warms us with his sunbeams,<\/p>\n<p>Sending messages with clouds<\/p>\n<p>by saying to let the inner child<\/p>\n<p>come out and play once in a while,<\/p>\n<p>as the rain comes down<\/p>\n<p>to wash away our negative thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For us family is just a word.<\/p>\n<p>We have a community of elders<\/p>\n<p>willing to teach by song and dance.<\/p>\n<p>Aunts and Uncles who take stress<\/p>\n<p>away by making us laugh.<\/p>\n<p>Brothers and sisters<\/p>\n<p>to back us up when were cornered by life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t need to be by blood.<\/p>\n<p>Clans are what tie us together.<\/p>\n<p>As long as you know<\/p>\n<p>your birthplace,<\/p>\n<p>clans<\/p>\n<p>and tribe.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll have family everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beyond Family &nbsp; Family is now a generic term.
