{"id":135494,"date":"2023-09-02T18:54:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T22:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=135494"},"modified":"2023-09-02T18:54:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T22:54:13","slug":"what-is-love-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/what-is-love-19\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Love?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is Love?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Poem 10)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>love love love love<\/p>\n<p>love is all you need<\/p>\n<p>love is all you need (Beatles)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When I consider love, I think they were right.<\/p>\n<p>I think the most important love is for ourselves<\/p>\n<p>because we project how we feel onto others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How we feel is how we act.<\/p>\n<p>If we feel mad and angry, we treat others<\/p>\n<p>that way. But the reverse is also true.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If we want to love someone else<\/p>\n<p>we need to first love ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This goes beyond carnal love into loving our home, our garden<\/p>\n<p>and our neighbors and their neighbors and the next town and country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Which brings up a directive that seems obvious: If you\u2019re angry don\u2019t act.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel love consider acting but not always\u2026gotta be discriminate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But love is also little things<\/p>\n<p>like Colleen laughing when I pretended<\/p>\n<p>to be a big awkward bird flapping his wings<\/p>\n<p>when I snuck up near her at lunch today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Or thanking me for compromising and changing the<\/p>\n<p>way we pack things and the floor matt configuration<\/p>\n<p>in our campervan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And sending the email to a mutual friend that neither of us<\/p>\n<p>wanted to do while I was busy writing poems.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Love is being able to be comfortable when you let down your<\/p>\n<p>guard and are the person that very few outsiders get to see.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Love is also being able to be still with each other and being<\/p>\n<p>comfortable in silence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Love?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Poem 10) &nbsp; love love love love love is all you need love is all you need (Beatles) &nbsp; When I consider love, I think they were right.
