{"id":135624,"date":"2023-09-02T19:17:40","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T23:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=135624"},"modified":"2023-09-02T19:19:41","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T23:19:41","slug":"poem-11-purpose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/poem-11-purpose\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem 11, Purpose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am a giant square eyeball.<br \/>\nI show you what you want to see.<br \/>\nSometimes what you don\u2019t.<br \/>\nI see you.<br \/>\nThere are nights you stay up too late,<br \/>\nthe night owl in you never quite going away-<br \/>\nother times you fall asleep in your chair.<br \/>\nYour cats cuddle with you a lot, my favorite part.<br \/>\nThey like to run around and sleep in random places and play.<br \/>\nYou always have Christmas lights plugged in.<br \/>\nYour Christmas trees are never taken down.<br \/>\nI scold myself for judging.<br \/>\nI\u2019m here for your comfort, your distraction from your busy mind.<br \/>\nAnd yet, is there more for me?<br \/>\nCould I be moved into a new house with a new family to watch over?<br \/>\nMaybe they would have a dog?<br \/>\nHow about to a movie theater where I would see different people all at once and fullfill their purpose every time?<br \/>\nI can only dream.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, please clean my stand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a giant square eyeball.
