HOUR 12<\/p>\n
(my own prompt – more of a wrap up really)<\/p>\n
Reflections From An Old Poet<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Rhyming came easy to me<\/p>\n
Words flowed, descriptions vividly told many tales<\/p>\n
My first poem was in Kimmy K’s autograph book.<\/p>\n
(she had to tell me what an autograph book was…haha)<\/p>\n
Age 10 maybe<\/p>\n
I think I have saved most of them<\/p>\n
But they are scattered here and there<\/p>\n
I think I have my first after-retirement project<\/p>\n
I wonder how many I’ve written<\/p>\n
Poems became singing telegrams for some years<\/p>\n
That was both fun and scary….way out of my comfort zone<\/p>\n
Being a text book procrastinator, I was often finishing those<\/p>\n
Little ditties driving to the actual gig…what a daring move!<\/p>\n
I enjoy my writing and appreciate it as a talent.<\/p>\n
From this marathon I have learned that having time to craft a lovely piece<\/p>\n
Is more satisfying than the rush to complete one every hour.<\/p>\n
Yet the challenge is just that…..challenging.<\/p>\n
I think i was channeling some of those rushed feelings of the<\/p>\n
Singing telegram years! Can you say anxiety?<\/p>\n
What 2024 will bring to my writing opportunities is anyone’s guess<\/p>\n
But for now I thank\u00a0 all the wonderful poets and organizers for<\/p>\n
the love and encouragement of the written word!<\/p>\n
