{"id":136560,"date":"2023-09-02T20:36:33","date_gmt":"2023-09-03T00:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=136560"},"modified":"2023-09-02T20:36:33","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T00:36:33","slug":"reflections-from-an-old-poet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/reflections-from-an-old-poet\/","title":{"rendered":"Reflections from An Old Poet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOUR 12<\/p>\n<p>(my own prompt &#8211; more of a wrap up really)<\/p>\n<p>Reflections From An Old Poet<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rhyming came easy to me<\/p>\n<p>Words flowed, descriptions vividly told many tales<\/p>\n<p>My first poem was in Kimmy K&#8217;s autograph book.<\/p>\n<p>(she had to tell me what an autograph book was&#8230;haha)<\/p>\n<p>Age 10 maybe<\/p>\n<p>I think I have saved most of them<\/p>\n<p>But they are scattered here and there<\/p>\n<p>I think I have my first after-retirement project<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how many I&#8217;ve written<\/p>\n<p>Poems became singing telegrams for some years<\/p>\n<p>That was both fun and scary&#8230;.way out of my comfort zone<\/p>\n<p>Being a text book procrastinator, I was often finishing those<\/p>\n<p>Little ditties driving to the actual gig&#8230;what a daring move!<\/p>\n<p>I enjoy my writing and appreciate it as a talent.<\/p>\n<p>From this marathon I have learned that having time to craft a lovely piece<\/p>\n<p>Is more satisfying than the rush to complete one every hour.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the challenge is just that&#8230;..challenging.<\/p>\n<p>I think i was channeling some of those rushed feelings of the<\/p>\n<p>Singing telegram years!
