Fading, fading.<br \/>\nLong before my footsteps dared to touch,<br \/>\nlong before my mind sought to understand.<\/p>\n<p>If I stare long enough, deep enough,<br \/>\ninto this chiseled rock, crafted by hands<br \/>\nlong since withered, decayed. Looking past<br \/>\nthe modernity that surrounds these ruins,<br \/>\nbeyond the busy chatter, traffic noise,<br \/>\nairplanes that sever the sky\u2026<br \/>\nif I keep staring, might i see?<br \/>\nMight I glimpse, for a moment,<br \/>\nthe true gravity of history?<\/p>\n<p>And if it visits me only in quick<br \/>\nfiery specks of realization,<br \/>\nflashes of enlightenment my mind can barely hold,<br \/>\nbut returning again, and again, as long as<br \/>\nI continue to stare, continue to freeze time<br \/>\nin the continual disintegration of stone to sand.<br \/>\nCan I put that gravity into my blood?<br \/>\nMove it through the course that feeds my body,<br \/>\nuntil it settles in the density of my own bones,<br \/>\ninto the ruins I will leave behind one day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A swirling stream of captured glimpses, memories highlighted with stone and shadow, wildflower mosaics burying segmented columns and headless statues.
