The boy who gave me cloth oragami hearts<\/p>\n
and engraved sheet music and silk black roses<\/p>\n
didn’t last though he put in all the right moves.<\/p>\n
He was here for the lesson that you should really<\/p>\n
appreciate what you’ve got while you have it.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then there was the one who brought me postcards<\/p>\n
from all around the world and tried to write all<\/p>\n
the things he thought I needed to hear – that was<\/p>\n
my fault I wasn’t in the right place for that kind of<\/p>\n
genuine sweetness. And now he’s got someone who<\/p>\n
can recipricate and keep better track of memories.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There were some poets resting at the bottom oft<\/p>\n
heir ink wells making skeletons out of nothing and<\/p>\n
storms out of a single cloud. They all had potential<\/p>\n
to be incredible – but took the craft too far for their<\/p>\n
own good. And like can find like but it’s truly\u00a0opposites<\/p>\n
that attract when it comes to the heart.<\/p>\n

And now I know what my voice sounds like – I’m not<\/p>\n
afraid to speak and my honey, he makes mistakes<\/p>\n
so do I, but we always come back from them with<\/p>\n
the help of each other. Plus he can always make me<\/p>\n
laugh at the end of days that have me in tears.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There’s something to be said for the way we carry<\/p>\n
trinkets through our lives and the mementos of the<\/p>\n
chapters that just didn’t need to expand –<\/p>\n
but the\u00a0silk flowers, the postcards, the poetry<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I still have it all.<\/p>\n
