We visited Lourdes (France),<\/p>\n
like all devout Catholics,<\/p>\n
to ask for favors.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Our girls were two and one.<\/p>\n
The younger one had a milk allergy,<\/p>\n
and drank protein milk,<\/p>\n
which resulted in poop<\/p>\n
of the foulest odor.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We arrived late for the only mass<\/p>\n
In English.<\/p>\n
We entered the crowded church,<\/p>\n
with two strollers, two toddlers<\/p>\n
and myriad backpacks and bags.<\/p>\n
The faithful were determined<\/p>\n
not to let us through.<\/p>\n
We were as determined to<\/p>\n
make our way,<\/p>\n
into their midst.<\/p>\n
We settled on the floor<\/p>\n
amidst glowering looks<\/p>\n
which we ignored.<\/p>\n
Then Natasha decided to unload.<\/p>\n
The dreadful smell reached the rafters<\/p>\n
and settled on the believers.<\/p>\n
We couldn\u2019t pretend it wasn\u2019t us,<\/p>\n
not after the sounds Natasha made.<\/p>\n
When we stood up to leave,<\/p>\n
the crowd parted like the Red Sea.<\/p>\n
We were out in the fraction<\/p>\n
