\nIt wasn’t even my fault
\nBut I was sent into the hall anyway

\nin elementary school
\nin your neighborhood
\nSomeone who always ups the ante
\nbrings an edge to the plain
\nspice to the salt<\/p>\n
Too loud
\nToo disruptive
\nContinues in the hallway
\nIt was becoming my fault
\nthe balance of blame shifting
\nquickly becoming more than I can control
\nThe other grade five teacher
\ncomes into the hallway to turn red
\nto yell
\nat us
\nat me
\nwhen it wasn’t my fault,
\nbut it is now. <\/p>\n
“You’re acting like you’re this big.”
\nhe screams in my face.
\nfinger and thumb an inch apart
\ntomato red face that reaches into thinning blond hair
\n“So what?” I scream back at him
\nteeth barred
\nuncaring of the disrespect
\nthe fun disintegrates on the hallway floor.<\/p>\n
My friend freezes,
\nsomehow makes herself smaller.
\nI will never convince
\nany of them
