‘I doubt it’ should be my middle name,<\/p>\n

And if doubt was a game<\/p>\n

I’d be on the leader board<\/p>\n

For every decade since the eighties,<\/p>\n

When all of the world’s issues<\/p>\n

Became weighty on my shoulders<\/p>\n

Gaining at least a metric tonne for each year I got older,<\/p>\n

And I should have been bolder<\/p>\n

And done really brave things –<\/p>\n

I don’t mean joining CND and blocking\u00a0a road,<\/p>\n

Hacking computers and cracking a code,<\/p>\n

Hitch-hiking round the country alone –<\/p>\n

I did all of those.<\/p>\n

I mean acts of true bravery<\/p>\n

That might just\u00a0have saved me<\/p>\n

From not ever feeling good enough<\/p>\n

And never really being half as tough<\/p>\n

As I seem.<\/p>\n
