Old Senator Roundtree<\/p>\n

Today we lost a giant sequoia of a man in the Senate.<\/p>\n
Senator Thomas Roundtree lost his heroic fight with cancer.<\/p>\n
He had served our state for the last 43 years,<\/p>\n
a pillar of democratic ideals and an all around<\/p>\n
good friend to the working class.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Like his father before him, he never met a voter<\/p>\n
he didn\u2019t like. His wife of 51 years Molly Sever Roundtree<\/p>\n
told our Hank Brown that while the last 6 years<\/p>\n
had been quiet, the cancer suddenly flared again last month,<\/p>\n
and caught their family unaware. Doctors could do little.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Roundtrees are survived by their three children,<\/p>\n
Anthony, John and Martha Ann Roundtree Clinton.<\/p>\n
The children have established a fund in their father\u2019s name<\/p>\n
that will provide saplings and volunteer planters in the area<\/p>\n
of the devastating Holbein Fire that blackened 1200 acres in April.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Senator Roundtree would have liked that. He was never one<\/p>\n
to miss a gathering that would help to end global warning. He<\/p>\n
will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held<\/p>\n
in early October. Silent prayers will be held daily for<\/p>\n
one minute at noon to help citizens and colleagues<\/p>\n
reflect on his impact and\u00a0how much his good heart will be missed.<\/p>\n
