the homes of the water<\/div>\n
a wonderful face<\/div>\n
never known<\/div>\n
to be my place<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
But they celebrate memories<\/div>\n
of times in the pines<\/div>\n
and tree branch fishing<\/div>\n
and sugar from rusty times<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
More laughter than I can<\/div>\n
the shuttlecock lost again<\/div>\n
no Muskoka chair here<\/div>\n
a nylon strap chair’s domain<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The bugs arrived early, again<\/div>\n
seemingly never to leave<\/div>\n
swatters rather futile in our efforts<\/div>\n
so I decide to wear long sleeves<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
It’s hot and humid<\/div>\n
but I endure<\/div>\n
Being soaked in that old sleeping bag<\/div>\n
but never regretting the cottage life lure<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The creaking dock, weeds and snakes<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
remembering those shattering eeks<\/div>\n
watch out for the broken rake<\/div>\n
walking towards the bubbling creek<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
frying eggs,\u00a0and munching hot dogs<\/div>\n
taking short naps<\/div>\n
and chopping logs<\/div>\n
no hot water from the taps<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Those starry nights,\u00a0answered my dreams<\/div>\n
the call of the loons<\/div>\n
and rain in reams<\/div>\n
as we run out of spoons<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Canoes and runabouts, and\u00a0the dingy that leaks<\/div>\n
replacing the pane<\/div>\n
from the raccoon that peaks<\/div>\n
and rodents that reign<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
penning ideas on the deck<\/div>\n
past joys, and all the sweat<\/div>\n
on this decade of memory trek<\/div>\n
of charcoal briquettes<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
