Crunchy or smooth<br \/>\npeanut butter, I vacillated between them.<\/p>\n<p>Grape jelly. Not strawberry or raspberry<br \/>\nor orange marmalade that I still dislike,<br \/>\nand the only butter was peanut butter.<\/p>\n<p>Grape jelly, like I put on white rice<br \/>\nand still do, though I don\u2019t know why,<br \/>\nmaybe because rice is sticky like<br \/>\nNana\u2019s farina and she always put<br \/>\na spoonful of grape into the middle<br \/>\nand let me mix it up. I didn\u2019t always<br \/>\neat it but I liked it.<\/p>\n<p>Today, my favorite lunch is Goober\u2019s,<br \/>\nthe brilliant invention of peanut butter<br \/>\nand grape jelly in a jar; a spoon, no need<br \/>\nfor bread or cutting crust or diagonal cuts.<br \/>\nOnce, I bought strawberry Goober\u2019s,<br \/>\njust once.<\/p>\n<p>Some people put grape jelly in sauce<br \/>\nsaying it cuts the acid from tomatoes<br \/>\nbut I\u2019ve never done it. I did find<br \/>\na recipe for meatballs cooked in<br \/>\ngrape jelly and ketchup, another favorite<br \/>\ngrowing up, a staple for hiding my peas<br \/>\nand drowning anything I didn\u2019t like.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to make these meatballs,<br \/>\nmy kind of simple.
