It can be something like making coffee every morning, or something like attending religious services once a week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dugga Dugga<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Not sure how or when it happened.<\/p>\n<p>The exact moment I metamorphosised into her<\/p>\n<p>is lost to posterity now.<\/p>\n<p>But I cannot leave the house,<\/p>\n<p>or start a journey,<\/p>\n<p>or indeed any project<\/p>\n<p>without saying <em>Dugga Dugga<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>She did that, all her life.<\/p>\n<p>Invoked the blessings of the goddess.<\/p>\n<p>Durga, the God of Power.<\/p>\n<p>We laughed, tutted,<\/p>\n<p>got embarrassed when friends were around.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t cool to have an uncool mother.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And now, I\u2019m her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chant it out loud when I\u2019m alone.<\/p>\n<p>Whisper furtively when I\u2019m not.<\/p>\n<p>No matter what, though\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t begin till I feel the cloaked in blessings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just one unanswered question,<\/p>\n<p>Is it the Goddess, or Ma<\/p>\n<p>who protects me?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour Twenty \u2013 Text Prompt: Write a poem about a routine or ritual that is part of your life.
