Futures Taken Away<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Children are gifts<\/p>\n

from the Divine Beings.<\/p>\n

They are here to help<\/p>\n

usher in new generations.<\/p>\n

But they were not always seen<\/p>\n

as the generations to come.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even more so<\/p>\n

if you were not white,<\/p>\n

especially<\/p>\n

if you were a pagan.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was decided<\/p>\n

that the devil<\/p>\n

was the cause of it all<\/p>\n

and the children\u2019s souls<\/p>\n

were corrupted<\/p>\n

and needed to be \u201cFixed\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That\u2019s when soldiers marched in<\/p>\n

and took all the kids<\/p>\n

and shoved them into trains<\/p>\n

to be carried away to a school.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There they were slapped,<\/p>\n

kicked, yanked, cursed at<\/p>\n

for talking their language.<\/p>\n

Long hair was only for women,<\/p>\n

so they chopped the boys hair<\/p>\n

and forced to keep their mouths shut.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Many perished from heartache,<\/p>\n

others endured<\/p>\n

but were unrecognizable by their parents.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Those that passed<\/p>\n

were buried in heaps<\/p>\n

under their school,<\/p>\n

as if they were<\/p>\n

dust swept under a rug.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The future of Native Americans<\/p>\n

and Canada became dimmer<\/p>\n

as more children were dragged off.<\/p>\n

The culture and language began to fade away.<\/p>\n
